Script & sounds

Bodo is written in the Devanagari script — the same alphabet as Hindi, but read differently. Start with the varnamala chart — every letter as it is read aloud, ko, kho, go, so — then the vowels and consonants with a pronunciation guide for each, and the sounds Bodo has that Devanagari was not built for: the vowel /ɯ/ and tone.
