About
A copy tool that sends only the differences between two locations. It can delete extras to keep both sides identical. Permissions and timestamps are preserved, and a secure shell connection works as easily as local storage.
Install it
pkg install rsync
Run this inside Termux. If the package is already present, pkg will say so and
do nothing.
Commands worth knowing
6 of the invocations you will actually reach for. Tap the copy button to put one on your clipboard.
rsync -av src/ dst/ Copy a hierarchy, keeping permissions, times and symlinks. Each item is shown as it goes. rsync -av --delete src/ dst/ Mirror a source onto a destination. Anything gone from the source is removed there too. rsync -av --dry-run src/ dst/ Report what would change without touching anything. A safe rehearsal. rsync -avz user@example.com:/var/www/ ./site/ Pull a remote folder over a secure shell connection, compressed on the wire. rsync -av --exclude="*.log" src/ dst/ Skip anything matching a pattern, and copy the rest. rsync -avh --progress src/ dst/ Human-readable sizes and a per-item progress meter during the transfer. Worked example
Run rsync -av --dry-run src/ dst/ and this is what you should see.
$ rsync -av --dry-run src/ dst/
