Neovim

A modern take on Vim, with built-in language support

nvim Editors

About

Neovim keeps Vim's modal editing. It adds a cleaner plugin architecture, built-in language server support and an embeddable core. For anyone who wants modal speed with a modern feel.

Install it

pkg install neovim

Run this inside Termux. If the package is already present, pkg will say so and do nothing.

Commands worth knowing

5 of the invocations you will actually reach for. Tap the copy button to put one on your clipboard.

nvim notes.txt Open a file for editing in the modern successor to the classic modal editor.
nvim -R notes.txt Open a file read-only. Useful for browsing without risk of edits.
nvim -o one.txt two.txt Open several files in horizontal splits.
nvim -d one.txt two.txt Open two files in diff mode, highlighting what differs between them.
nvim --headless -c checkhealth -c qa Run a health check with no user interface, then quit. A way to test a setup from a script.

Worked example

Run nvim +12 README.md and this is what you should see.

termux
$ nvim +12 README.md
~
~
# Learmux
~
"README.md" 64L, 1820C

The cursor starts on the requested line; the status line reports the file.
