Zoxide

Jump to directories by typing part of their name

zoxide Shell and sessions MIT

About

Zoxide remembers the directories you visit and ranks them by how often and how recently you use them. Type a fragment instead of a long path, and it takes you to the best match. Set it up once and a deep folder tree becomes a few keystrokes.

Install it

pkg install zoxide

Run this inside Termux. If the package is already present, pkg will say so and do nothing.

Commands worth knowing

5 of the invocations you will actually reach for. Tap the copy button to put one on your clipboard.

zoxide init Print the shell snippet that hooks the directory jumper into your session. Add it to your startup file once.
zoxide add /sdcard/Download Record a directory in the database by hand. It becomes available to jump to before you have visited it.
zoxide query List the learned directories in rank order. See which one the jumper will pick first.
zoxide query -l notes Show every remembered directory whose path contains the given text. Pick the exact one.
zoxide remove /sdcard/Download Forget a directory you no longer want suggested.

Worked example

Run zoxide query and this is what you should see.

termux
$ zoxide query
/sdcard/Download
